I finally watched Rise of the Guardians today, because that's all over tumblr, and…wow. I adore Jack Frost, he's the sweetest thing ever. I want more, and more of his past life, please?

I'm literally having a discussion about what kind of 'hunky' Thor is. Oh dear. I'm such a solid judge of this, of course.

Apparently, it's time to watch the movie, and see if I can find the appeal that he seems to have.

News Flash

I have a lot to say, but not many words to use. My French partner and I (the one I was living with, and came with me to live hear for a month?) have parted ways sooner than expected. While it hurts for me not to be able to fulfill the role I expected to fill, I know that this is better for everyone involved.

She can get more of what she wants out of the experience, and I can sink back into my familiar routine, knowing that I had an amazing time in France.

In other news, I went to a party last night at a friend's place, and due to scheduling, stayed the night. As such, we spent the day together, going to lunch at this little place in his town, then to a movie in the 'city' we live close-ish to. The Campaign. Not my type of humour, but it was okay. Started a half hour late, though, for whatever reason…that was odd.

Also, I'm going back to work tomorrow, and jumping right in with a nine hour shift. I'm ready to use my newfound experiences to enjoy my nest two weeks before I move!

Speaking of which, I really do need to pack my stuff up….

Snow White And The Huntsman

I'm pretending I didn't write my Math exam today….

I saw Snow White and the Huntsman tonight—it was pretty decent. I love Charlize Theron (The Burning Plain is one of my favourite movies!), and thought she did fantastic in this. All the old/young make up was really well done. 

On the other hand, I am not a Kristen Stewart fan, but she was okay in this. Maybe it was only me…but did it seem like she really didn't talk much…? Either way, it did give me a bit more faith in her, so I might see the next movie she's in. We'll see.

Back to Snow White—I though that some of the special effects were really well done; the dying scenes where people aged rapidly for instance. I liked that (in my oh-so-professional opinion!), whereas some of the fighting (particularly this one throw in the final battle between the Queen and Snow White) seemed really contrived, and in that throw in particular, I could practically see ropes flying her back. It seemed really improbable.

Over all, though it was worthwhile…. Some minor disappointments (the voice-over guy didn't close the movie like he opened it, and I always like that), but it was pretty fair. Definitely made me want to know my Disney better; I kept wanting to look for references! I picked out two or three obvious ones, but I'm sure that someone that actually has seen the Disney version would find more. There was a point where I distinctly though "Oh, well that's a Harry Potter moment!" Maybe I simply have HP on the brain….

The Lorax

I watched The Lorax today…wow. For a 'children's' movie, there is so much for adults! The standard bits of mature humour thrown in for us to chuckle at, but the political, environmental, moral views…wow. It's like a spruced up Aesop's fable for the short attention spans of today!

Silver Lining—And Coating!

What to talk about today? Not much…I suppose that I could mention that the person I was seeing, a friend of mine, has decided that a romantic relationship isn't what is best…. (This is entirely mutual, we want entirely different things, and it really wouldn't be fair to either of us to fake it.) We;re still getting together to try a new recipe, and hopefully I can convince her to watch a movie or two. The both of us have lists of movies the other needs to watch!

All in all, I'm glad with the way things turned out. I doubt that she'll ever read this, but I do need to make that clear. (In case any of you readers are madly invested in my love life and want to know I'm okay…I didn't think so either.)

So, I haven't asked a question in a while, and i feel like I should get back into that. Hmmm….

Sickly

I 've spent the day home, sick. I'm reviewing one of my favourite movies—ben so long since I've seen it!—and I'm loving it! After this, though…bed time!

REPO! The Genetic Opera

I watched one of my favourite movies again tonight—yay, knowing nearly every line!—and found more to love. I will have to introduce it to a friend of mine, she's never seen it and I'm pretty sure she'll love it. As for you, here's my favourite song from the movie!

Nong Toom, The Beautiful Boxer

So, I spent a lot of time on YouTube this evening, unwinding before an fairly hefty exam tomorrow (not another Diploma until Friday, though!), and I rediscovered my love of Dido. More specifically, I looking into the video for It Comes And It Goes….

The woman who stars in this video, a short film about her life…amazing. First off, she's stunning to look at, and I wish I could kick that high, and powerfully.
Second, the strength it takes to realize your gender is not what it ought to be…and go through with the change—her life is truly an inspiration. Especially seeing as she was supporting her family while kickboxing, and was turned down for a sex exchange a few times…the perseverance and dedication…the self-knowledge!

Nong Toom is definitely one of my ne heros, and I'm slightly in awe.

For her to go on with her life, too…continue boxing post-operation, adopt a daughter (stay in such amazing shape!). Wow. I've definitely been blown away.

I also discovered there is a film, The Beautiful Boxer, that is about her story…I will definitely be looking for it!

YouTube

So, I'm one of the millions of people who spend too much time on the internet, an YouTube is one of the bigest culprits, increasingly so. While I'm there, I have a few people who I'm interested in, and watch regularly.

Then, there's a few of my subscriptions that upload irregularly, but have some amazing stuff—I'd really like to see it taken further. One of these videos is Watercolour, which I watched today. The channel it's from, Director343, has some very promising work.

I find a lot of his stuff really quite funny, and enjoy them a a great pick-me-up. Then, there's the deep ones that make me really think…such as Watercolour.  Watch it, it has so many applications to so many different facets of life.

I really admire Director343 for making this—really, every—video. I rarely, if ever, have the courage to shoot a vlog that isn't part of my 6AC group. Never mind a plotted, time-taking video that tells a story!

So, my question to you today is, what do you think of Watercolour? Or some of his other videos, like The Ginger, or Futuristic Lullabye?

Enchanted

I watched Enchanted again today—awww. I forgot how sappy, silly and utterly obvious that movie is. I love it.

I suppose it's a bit of a guilty pleasure, romantic fluff like that. I used to love romantic comedies, but I can't stand the 'comedy' half it all seems so pointlessly idiotic. I like comedy that's a bit more…entertaining? Something that requires some 'tuning in.' Rom coms rarely have that, at least they didn't when I stopped 'em!
