So I realize this is my hundredth post…and I thought I ought to do something to celebrate it. So, today's post will be a recipe…and a contest. The SixAwesomeCanadians member who can come up with the best name for said recipe will get the power to have me write a post about whatever they choose.
Ready?
Here goes!
2 slices day-old light (I used Canadian) rye bread
3 eggs
pinch herbs/salt/seasoning to taste (I used Epicure's Three Onion Dip Mix, and their garlic and herbs salt)
shredded/thinly sliced cheese (I used Gouda)
Into medium bowl, put eggs and seasoning in and beat. Pour into frying pan, place bread slices in. Squish the bread down a bit, swish around. Then flip 'em over and repeat until they're soaked.
Lay cheese over to cover top, but on medium-low heat until it looks like an omelet and is relatively solid—about five minutes. Then flip over for another few minutes before you serve it.
The finished dish is a large, take-up-the-whole-plate dish, but oh, so good. The cheese browns up nicely, makes a sort of crust for the soft tenderness of the bread.
I've already devoured on half of the meal, but it could also be served halved with some veggies…probably a smarter idea…healthier….
Meh.
So, 6AC:what is this called? Gimme a title, I'll give you a post!
