I got an update from Goodreads to day, linking to this article. As you might recall, some time ago, I wrote a post about the first installment in the Cargon series. You might also recall that I loved it, quite a bit. In fact, I think the correct term is I gushed about it.
In case you didn't click through to the article/post by Kimberly Gould (tsk, tsk, lazy!), here's the sum-up: the new book is basically ready for production! That means, by Holiday Season, Ms. Gould is expecting the book to be finished, or at the very latest, January-ish. (Anyone that reads this and feels the odd compulsion to get me a New Years/Thinking Of You gift [my favourite {only} kinds!], this would be the time to read 'Hint, hint!!')
Now that my shameless not hinting is done, let me tell you what I hope for the new book:
Based on the title, Cargon: Duty and Sacrifice, I don't think this'll be the end. I think we can expect her to stay married to the man who's name I can no longer remember, touring as they left to do at the end of the book.
(Belated Warning: SPOILERS. I'm assuming [wrongfully?] that you've taken my wonderful advice and read the first Cargon. If not, stop. Find the book. Read it. Love it [optional, but encouraged]. Continue reading my words…now!)
I think this book will revolve around Eve's dilemma of remaining married, as she is bound to do, while loving another. I think there might be a play for Eve, but I wouldn't count on it being completely successful. I think there's a good possibility she may not have the opportunity to be with the one she loves this book.
Something also sparks me about babies‚whether that be because I miss my job with kids, or have a true 'feeling,' I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets pregnant, though I haven't really decided which father is more likely. Adam, who she loves, and who I can't imagine giving up, or her husband, to carry on the line of succession? I confess I'm a little rusty on the rules of Cargon's world.
Also, how will the newly re-found electricity play in? How will that change the dynamics?
I wonder, maybe I'm reading it all wrong, maybe it's not Eve that sacrifices? Maybe Adam does? Or his mother, ____? I truly don't know, and this is completely speculation. (Unfortunately, I'm not part of the inner circle that gets to pre-read awesome books by Gould. That would be pretty cool, though….)
I suppose, if you've made it this far, I need to ask—what do you think will happen? Even if you're not going to read it (again, tsk tsk), tell me anyway. Give me a left field to work with while I wait!
I must note, Kimberly Gould actually read my last post on Cargon, and if she reads this, wouldn't it be cool if we could get a comment? Even if it's waaaaay off base, or completely cannon, how would we know? So, Ms. Gould, if you're here…care to lead me on a potential goose chase…?
I will tell you that your guesses aren't completely off base. ;) Certainly the topics you expect to see, those are in there! I would have commented sooner, but I've been spending more time as my erotica persona lately.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you're on the GoodReads updates. Any news will come that way. I hope to have some more soon. :)
Thanks! I'm even more eager now that I know a vague hint at the plot! Looking forward to reading on!
DeleteAn erotica persona…that sounds interesting…is that the other novel you were speaking about earlier?
